When an object falls through the Earth├òs atmosphere, the planet├òs gravity pulls it down toward the ground at an incredibly high speed. The object will become very hot and start to burn because of friction. An example of friction is when you rub your two hands together to create heat and keep warm. As an object falls through the atmosphere, the faster the object goes, the more friction is created by the object rubbing against the many <a href="glossary">particles</a> in the air. Objects falling through the Earth's atmosphere can create so much friction that they can burst into flames.
